Our History

The bar is a part of the historical Cambridge Union located in an over 160 years old Victorian Gothic building right in the heart of Cambridge's city centre, and known for its famous guest celebrities and debates that we proudly serve at.

Our place is open to the public, whole day every day, and provides an array of different things, starting from coffees, sandwiches, and pastries in the morning, through wine, beer, and one of the best cocktails in town, and finishing off with buffets, workshops, and private bookings.

The 1815 bar is the perfect place for a relaxing break in the Cambridge city centre. Lined with signed photographs of famous guests - from Robert Downey Junior to Buzz Aldrin - and with authentic vintage wooden floors, chandeliers, deep leather chairs, and one of the best outdoor gardens, 1815 is like no other, offering a unique historic setting.

All profit made by 1815 The Union Bar helps a registered charity, the Cambridge Union, continue its existence and tradition of promoting free speech in the world.

Named after the founding year of the Cambridge Union.
